Freedom is not a human right conferred by Heaven. Nor does the freedom to dream come at birth: it is a capacity and an awareness that needs to be defended. Moreover, even dreams can be assailed by nightmares.

Right, left brainer or no brainer?
The Spinning Lady Test
Urgh...
this woman is turning clockwise from which ever way I looked at it - left, right, above and bottom.
Still clockwise. Period.
The anatomy of my single cell structure (yeah... thaz right... admitedly so.) devoids me of the ability to see a deferring result.
Although I did stare at the reflection of the monitor in the mirror long enough to realize that the reflection of the spinning lady is also turning clockwise in the mirror.
This ain't making sense...
Clockwise on the screen, and clockwise in the mirror.
How did that happen?

Confession of a shopaholic
Listen to song
(Workable :p)
Sometimes... it does make sense.

Facebook? It's all about self-branding.
You Are Not My Friend
Yes, we're on Facebook. But I don't care about your cat. And stop poking me.
Anyway... juz wanna highlight the gist of the whole blether...
Old people are always worrying that our blogging and personal websites and MySpace profiles are taking away our privacy, but they clearly don't understand the word privacy.
We're not sharing things we don't want other people to know. We're showing you our best posed, retouched photos. We're listing the Pynchon books we want you to think we've read all the way through. We're allowing other people to write whatever they want about us on our walls, unless we don't like it, in which case we just erase it.
If we had that much privacy in real life, the bathrooms at that Minnesota airport would be empty.
Haha... how does that work out for you?

Revisiting Don Mclean
Too much stuff to handle, and it's getting pretty much out of hand.
It's always great to listen to Mclean in times like this.
He has such a calm and composed voice, and maybe... maybe I can slow down and rethink about what I should do by just hearing his voice.
Then I saw this online rendition of Mclean's Castles in the Air... it's soooo beautiful, I just got to share it...
A soulful rendition of Castles in the Air
Just love this song.
Arent you tired of castles in the air?

That thing about Relativity
My laptop has been driving me nuts for a long time because it moves like a snail.
But I've changed my mind, it's just a sloth.
The real winner is the PC that I've wrestled with at I-S Magazine.
Sticky note on How to get an I-S's PC working?
by a predecessor that owns His Cyberness
Touch your forehead and fart 3X. It might work.
Ever since then, I've learnt to appreciate my laptop.
It's fast....
...
relatively speaking.

Have been tubing quite a bit lately...
Catching up on Discovery's A Haunting there.
The series claims to have true accounts of witnesses who have encountered the paranormal.
It's great to watch even though some of it might not be true. Haa.. But HEY, I do believe in a world beyond this one.
Never a fan of horror films. I hate paying to freak myself out.
But THIS ONE is really good. They have witnesses who talked, and the the dramatization is great.
Anyway, interested parties please proceed on to A Haunting in Connecticut for a wonderful episode of the series.
N.. OMG... did you realize?
We are very near holidays! (or is already there for some lucky idiots)
Hohoho.

"Starbucks must move out of the imperial palace immediately, and it can no longer allowed to taint China's national culture."
~ Legislator's call for closure of Starbucks at the Forbidden City
Al... right.. still... I think the renting out of plastic flowers at Tiananmen Square for offering to Chairman Mao (and taking them back again to rent out to others) is more of a taint than Starbucks.
"[Old] traffic signals leave half the population invisible."
~ Police chief's take on the newly-installed "traffic lights that flash up alternate male and female figures" in Fuenlabrada, South of Madrid.
Cute. Bet the accident rate of women in the area will reduce. Sure.
ARGH. Yeah. Hate the world today.

Jazz Concert at The Arts House at the Old Parliament
Regarding the photo below:

Erm... and one more thing...
Maybe it happens to everyone....
Just that... I don't quite like myself today.
要反省(o下)。

Watched Just Follow Law today.
Surprise. Surprise.
I admit I have never been a fan of Singapore production. Have been doing "avoidance learning" on local films - as in avoiding them so as not to learn.
But it's not so bad. Is full of Singapore flavour.
Talking about movies, there's two MUST WATCH if you are a fan of war films:
Letters from Iwo Jima
Synopsis:
Academy Award nominee Ken Watanabe (“The Last Samurai,” “Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Batman Begins”) stars as General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, the American-educated general who courageously led the Japanese resistance to the massive American onslaught of the island of Iwo Jima.
Flags of our Fathers
Synopsis:
In February, 1945, one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific theater of World War II occurs on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of Marines attack the stronghold maintained by thousands of Japanese, and the slaughter on both sides is horrific. Early in the battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, Mount Suribachi, and a photograph of the raising becomes an American cause celebre. As a powerful inspiration to war-sick Americans, the photo becomes a symbol of the Allied cause.
The three surviving flag raisers, Rene Gagnon, John Bradley, and Ira Hayes, are whisked back to civilization to help raise funds for the war effort. But the accolades for heroism heaped upon the three men are at odds with their own personal realizations that thousands of real heroes lie dead on Iwo Jima, and that their own contributions to the fight are only symbolic and not deserving of the singling out they are experiencing. Each of the three must come to terms with the honors, exploitation, and grief that they face simply for being in a photograph.
By the way, both films are directed by Clint Eastwood.
Thought that it would be interesting to see how he portray the Japanese perspective and American perspective.
Right... I know I shouldn't impose my own interest on others. But I am a big fan of historical films.
Er hem... and being kinda subtle about it...
BAND OF BROTHERS!
SCHINDLER LIST!
PIANIST!
PATRIOT! (Er. is that historical?)
Alright.
Subtlety in check.

I mean how many times do you need to do something similar in one year?
New Year Resolution? Chinese New Year Resolution? Birthday Wish?
Envisaging about the future... positively.
It's not something bad, just that do you really follow through? Does it matter?
Anyway, back to some current issues - CHINESE NEW YEAR.
Didn't achieve much, or achieve a lot depending on how you look at it.
Well...
Below are the list of things that I did for today:
- Meeting challenges and dealing with obstacles (as in playing MARIO on NDS.)
- Explore new grounds (as in new games on NDS. Final Fantasy III to be precise.)
- DefeatED my nemesis (Won my brother in those who vs. who fighting games on PS3. Woohoo.)
- Living life to its fullest. (Eat, sleep, and doing nothing.)
Yawnz.
So... enjoy your holidays (while it last.)

I am deprived of sleep, and Eason's song keeps on playing in my head.
